Textured vegetable protein « meat balls » (dehydrated soy).
It tastes like the regular ones!
Ingredients
~ 1 cup of textured vegetable protein
~ 7/8 cup (1 cup minus 2 TSP) hot water
~ 2 TSP soy sauce
~ 2TSP nutritional yeast
~ 1/4 cup of chickpea flour
~ garlic powder to taste
~ a dash of Italian seasoning
~ salt and pepper
Instructions
~ mix 1 cup of textured vegetable protein with hot water – cover with a kitchen towel and let it sit for 10 mn.
~ after 10 min, add the soy sauce, the nutritional yeast and the seasoning. Mix well.
~Finally add 1/4 cup of chickpea flour. Mix well.
~ Take 1 TBS of the mixture and roll it between your hands until you form a nice round ball. Continue until nothing is left in the bowl.
~ Heat a skillet with a bit of olive oil and cook the meat balls until they are brown and crispy.
~ Add freshly cooked tomato sauce and serve with spaghetti.
