Stuck on what to make for Fourth of July?
Well, my friends, @flaxandsugar, @jengo.daily and I know how to kick up the BBQ menu, vegan style! Whether you want pulled pork, vanilla bean cheesecake or a good ol’ sauerkraut chili cheese dog, we got the hook up for you.

Here is my recipe for the spicy pulled pork sliders!
2 tsp of olive oil;
1 12 oz bag of frozen jackfruit;
1/2 medium white onion, sliced;
3 garlic cloves, minced;
2 tsp of smoke salt;
1/2 tsp of cumin;
1/2 tsp of chili powder;
1/2 tsp of cinnamon;
1 tsp of cayenne pepper;
A pinch of black pepper;
1.5 cups of veggie stock;
1 tsp of soy sauce; and
1/2 cup of vegan bbq sauce.
Directions: Place oil in a large sauce pan over medium low heat. Add garlic and cook for approx. 2 minutes. Add in onion and cook until translucent, stirring often. Add spices, jackfruit & soy sauce and stir so they are well combined. Bring the heat to medium and add in the veggie broth until the mixture is simmering. Let simmer for 25-30 minutes, or until the liquid is absorbed. Make sure to stir often. Add in approx. 1 tbsp of the bbq sauce, stir and cook for 1 minutes. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Place parchment or tin foil on a sheet pan. Place jackfruit mixture on top of the paper and cook in the oven for 45-55 minutes, or until it is browner and the liquid is absorbed even more. Add the additional BBQ sauce and cook for another 10 mins. Place on a toasted bun and top with microgreens! Enjoy!
