Simple Rajma Recipe.( kidney beans)
1 cup rajma, soaked overnight.
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 large onion chopped
1 green chilli chopped
2 tsp tomato paste
1 Tbsp ginger garlic paste
2 large tomatoes chopped
1 tsp Kashmiri chilli powder
1 tsp cumin powder
2 tsp coriander powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 and 1/2 tsp salt or to taste
3 Tbsp fresh coriander chopped
Drain the overnight soaked rajma. Put it into a pressure cooker with 3 cups of fresh water. Give 4 whistles on fast and 4 whistles on slow. Switch off the flame and let the pressure drop on its own. In a separate pan add a little oil, when hot add the cumin seeds and let them splutter. Add the onions and sauté till golden. Add the ginger garlic paste, tomato paste, green chilli and sauté a minute. Add the tomatoes along with all the spices, bring to a boil. Then make the flame slow, cover and let it simmer for 25 -30 minutes. Add a little water if needed. Once the raw smell goes. Pour in the cooked rajma along with all the water, bring to a boil. Remove it from the flame and hand blend half of the mixture. Add it all back on the stove top and bring to a boil, add the coriander and mix well. Let it simmer for 5 minutes, then it’s ready to be served:))
