In the past i’ve been know to chuck food away. Whether that be fruit, veg or even a half eaten can of beans. It was down to inefficient planning and not being savvy and sensible. Over the last year i’ve made a real effort to reduce my food waste and i’ve learned a few tips along the way, which I’d like to share with you in case you find them helpful. ⁣
⁣
1️⃣ Meal Plan. It may feel mundane, but it means that you’re buying what you need. When you meal plan, perhaps choose recipes with similar ingredients each week, such as a roast vegetable lasagne, followed by a mixed vegetable curry. It means that you’re not left with veg remnants. ⁣
⁣
2️⃣ Your freezer is your best friend. Sometimes veg goes off faster than you expect. If you start to see anything turning, chop it up and put it in the freezer. You’ll still be able to cook with it and it will keep the veg fresh. ⁣
⁣
3️⃣ Don’t be drawn in by offers. So often supermarkets have offers of buy two for Β£3 rather than one for Β£2. These offers are so tempting, but I urge you to only buy what you need. Quite often the extras go to waste and that is what we’re trying to avoid here. If you have any tips then please let me know in the comments below. ⁣
