Posted @withregram • @clairesharrynroberto KITCHARI — one of the staple healing foods in #ayurveda. It’s one of the dishes I come back to time + time again to further heal my tummy issues. It’s magic. Kitchari supports the tissues, purifies the digestive system, balances the doshas + detoxifies on a physical + energetic level. Plus, it’s pretty much Indian comfort food, so win-win.⠀

There are a variety of factors that influence the energetic qualities of food. Some of which are: ⠀

— the energy you bring to the food when cooking it will infused into it (that’s why i never cook if I’m grumpy or sad)⠀

— the energy of the way in which the food is cooked i.e. cooking method (think roasting, which creates a more yang + grounded energetic quality, whereas steaming creates an uplifting, light, yin quality)⠀

— the natural energetic quality of the ingredients used (root veg are naturally grounding, sprouts are light + uplifting, chili + ginger are heating, cucumber + watermelon are cooling etc.)⠀

Learning to understand the different energetic qualities of food (+ life things) + how it all effects our energy (be that physical, mental or emotional) is one of the keys to true balance, healing + wellbeing. ⠀
