My Mom’s BAKED BEANS 🤩🥰 (vegan)

Truly the best baked beans! You will never reach for the can again. Serve for dinner with crusty buttered bread and crisp salad, or with an egg and buttery toast for breakfast! My English roots are on full display here! 😉 But seriously, these are smoky, sweet, creamy, luxurious, and full of depth. You won’t find a better recipe! Thanks Mom ♥️

INGREDIENTS:
– 900 gram bag of small white (navy) beans (adjust amounts depending on how much beans you want to make)
– 1 white onion, chopped
– 2 small cloves of garlic (not more—it’s not a garlic dish)
– 1/3 cup molasses
– 1/2 cup tomato paste
– 1 tbsp dry mustard
– 1 tbsp soy sauce
– 2 tbsp Worcestershire
– About 6 cups of water (beans are well covered in other words)
– Appropriate number of teaspoons of Better than Boullion vegetable to match water amount
– Shake of liquid smoke (a little goes a long way!)
– A little dab of brown sugar or Stevia, if you want (but you already have molasses)
– 1 can (tall or regular) of beer, preferably a darker one
– Salt and pepper

PROCESS: Put everything together and mix with a spoon in slow cooker or bean pot. Cook, lid on, low and slow for several hours until beans are soft and sauce is thicker and creamy. Taste for salt and pepper and adjust at the end.
