Most of the time, I find a recipe for something I want to make and I’ll either try it out exactly how it tells me to and edit the next time around OR I take a look at the recipe and immediately replace certain ingredients with something I’d prefer to use.
EXCEPT for this recipe. Now, I can’t remember where on the internet I found this recipe, so I can’t give credit where credit is due. BUT, let me tell you this Vegan Chocolate Cake base is honestly better than any ‘non-vegan’ chocolate cake I’ve made. I actually use it as my go-to chocolate cake & then just don’t tell non-vegans it’s vegans because people suddenly get weirded out when you tell them a food item is vegan…that’s for another blog in another world. SO DELICIOUS CHOCOLATE CAKE!
1 1/4 CUPS FLOUR
1 CUP SUGAR
1/3 CUP COCOA POWDER
1 TSP BAKING SODA
1/2 TSP SALT
1 CUP WARM WATER
1 TSP VANILLA
1/3 CUP VEGETABLE OIL
1 TSP OF APPLE CIDER VINEGAR OR WHITE VINEGAR
Mix dry ingredients
Pour & mix in wet ingredients Line pan with parchment paper & grease sides of pan with unsalted butter
Pour in batter
Bake at 350F on the middle rack for 20-25 minutes .
