Here is my family Chakri Recipe passed on from mummy to sisters, to me, and now to you ??

1 kg rice flour
125g butter
3 boiled- mashed potatoes
Ginger, chilli, sesame seeds , fresh corriander cumin, turmeric, salt, sugar and lemon.

Mix all ingredients except of rice flour, butter and potatoes and make chutney out of it (this helps bring lovely colour and flavour. I make “chaatpati chakri” so make sure you get a perfect flavour of your chutney.

Next, bind the butter with the flour and mix the potatoes. Make sure there are no lumps left off potatoes otherwise they will get stuck whilst you squeeze the chakri out of the machine. Best to use the small side of grater or masher.

Finely add the spiced chutney mix (adjusting the flavours) and make a dough into a soft but firm dough. (Don’t over add the water as it will get to soft.)

Then make the Chakri with the machine and fry or bake. @kajalshealthykitchen

*some people add yogurt or sour cream to bind the chakri. Feel free to try new ways and enjoy home cooked food this Diwali ?
