From Christopher Kimball @177milkstreet Cookish meet charred broccoli with miso vinaigrette.
As usual, easy midweek meals from Milk Street that have a good dose of punch and don’t disappoint, doable after work hours, healthful and delicious. Low effort high impact in this broccoli gem! Every day meal for some can turn into a festive side paired with other Asian influenced dishes depending on your traditions and the way you treat a celebratory table at the end of the year.
Here there’s nothing but a handful of ingredients. Char your broccoli, rubbed with white miso and neutral oil, for a few minutes under the broiler. As incredible as it sounds, broccoli is perfectly tender after 8 minutes of under the broiler tanning. The vinaigrette you dress it with once it is out of the oven is also miso based but contains some mirin (or honey), rice vinegar (or lemon juice), grated ginger…and that’s all to it. Scallions are a must and sesame seeds is my personal touch…and why not a sprinkle of some toasted peanuts instead. Loved this dish that went perfectly well with plain rice. It looks modest and frugal, but the flavour is what counts.

Thanking Lisa and Katy @cookinglikeimeanit and @katysconstantlycooking for hosting #milkstreetcookalong
