Did you know it is Prince Albert whom we have to thank for Christmas puddings?
In the 19th century, Prince Albert declared his love for the Christmas pudding and made it fashionable – it was at this time that it became a Christmas staple.
Today is ‘Stir Up Sunday’, the day when families traditionally made their Christmas pudding.
Each member of the family takes a turn in stirring the mixture whilst making a wish. The pudding should be stirred from east to west, in honour of the Magi (Wise Men) who came from the east to visit the baby Jesus.
