🥦LAZY VEGGIE STIR FRY🥦
Carbs! Let’s be honest-they’re the best. Like who doesn’t love a good carbo load? Trust me, I am so on board the high-fat, high-protein train, but carbs are such a key macronutrient in our diets. I’m not talking about McDonalds and pizza everyday ( although, you do you boo 🍕😍), I’m talking healthy, slow burning carbs. Such as veg, sweet potato, whole wheat pasta, oats and brown rice.
In the fitness community, there is so much talk of protein, protein, protein, and while I think everybody should be conscious of their protein intake, everyone totally over looks the importance of good carbs-especially after a running or weight lifting session. Your body uses your glycogen stores as fuel during your workout, so eating a balanced, carb filled meal after is sometimes just as important as a protein filled one. A 2020 study shows that men and women who strength train at least twice a week need at least half their calorie intake from carbohydrates. Your body stores glycogen in your muscles, so replenishing with carbohydrates ( which are converted to glycogen once consumed ) after a workout is a vital key to building and repairing your muscle tissue.
Okay, enough science for today, let’s get in to the food 😋😋
Broccoli, shredded carrots, chopped bell pepper, 1/4 red cabbage, handful of cashews, soy sauce ( or coconut aminos for gluten free ), green onions, and precooked noodle packet ( or rice noodles for gf ).
Just throw all this in a pan together, starting with the the slowest cooking veggie ( in this case it will be the broccoli ) and go from there. See what I mean? It’s almost criminal how easy this is!!
